The ability to swiftly change direction, react quickly, and move with precision can make all the difference in your performance on the court. The Ladder Shuffle
A great way to improve your lateral movement and quickness is by incorporating the ladder shuffle into your training routine. This drill requires an agility ladder, which you can easily find online or at your local sports store.
Start by standing at one end of the ladder, facing sideways. Step into the first square with your lead foot, followed by your trail foot. Then, step sideways into the next square with your lead foot, bringing your trail foot along, and so on. Move through the ladder as quickly as possible, maintaining a rhythm and proper foot placement. Repeat this drill for several sets, gradually increasing your speed to challenge yourself further.
The Box Drill
The box drill is an excellent exercise to enhance your agility and improve your ability to quickly change direction. All you need is some tape or cones to create a square, about 10 feet by 10 feet, on the ground.
Begin by standing in the center of the square. Start moving in a diagonal pattern to one corner of the square, planting your inside foot and pushing off forcefully to change direction. The Reactionary Shuffle

With a partner or coach, stand across from each other on the court. Your partner will randomly hit the ball in different directions, and you must shuffle quickly to the appropriate side to reach the ball, maintaining a low, athletic stance. The Cone Weave
The cone weave drill is an effective way to develop your agility, lateral movement, and overall coordination. Place a set of cones in a straight line, about one yard apart.
Start at one end of the cones, and weave your way through them by moving laterally and zig-zagging between each cone. Focus on making short, quick steps and maintaining balance throughout. Once you reach the end, return to the starting point using the same pattern in the opposite direction.
